Frequently Asked Questions
What is in this archive?
9,861 engine vs engine games between Stockfish and 48 of the world's strongest chess engines, covering CCRL testing matches and TCEC (Top Chess Engine Championship) seasons from 2024 onward.
Which engines are included?
Top engines: LCZero (Leela Chess Zero), Komodo Dragon, Berserk, Torch, Obsidian, Ethereal, Caissa, Alexandria, Clover, RubiChess, Halogen, Reckless, Seer, Velvet, Igel, Booot, and others. Each opponent has its own dedicated page with full game listing.
Where do these games come from?
Games are sourced from CCRL (Computer Chess Rating Lists) and TCEC (Top Chess Engine Championship), the two main public engine-testing organizations. TCEC games are licensed under CC BY-SA 3.0.
Why filter to 2024 onward?
Engine strength has progressed significantly. A Stockfish-vs-Leela game from 2020 plays at a measurably lower level than 2024+. Filtering to recent games gives a higher-quality archive for study.
Can I practice these games move by move?
Yes. Every game has a Practice button. You play the winning side's moves yourself — Watch the game first, then Test your accuracy. Watch mode runs at 3 seconds per move, then prompts you to start the test.
Can I analyse a game with my own engine?
Yes. Every game has an Analyse button that opens our embedded Stockfish 18 analyser running locally in your browser at full strength.
Is the data free to use?
Game scores (the moves themselves) are factual records and are freely usable. CCRL data is published openly. TCEC data is licensed under CC BY-SA 3.0 with attribution. Both sources are credited on every game page.
How is this different from chess.com or Lichess engine archives?
This archive focuses exclusively on Stockfish matchups against other top engines, organized by opponent and by tactical theme (sacrifices). Every game has full engine-evaluation annotations preserved from the original tournament.
Are the games verified?
Yes. Each game retains its original headers (event, date, time control), engine annotations, and result, and is sourced directly from CCRL/TCEC official PGN releases.
Does this work on mobile?
Yes. The site is fully responsive and optimized for mobile (especially iOS Safari). The chess analyser uses Stockfish 18 WASM and runs entirely in your browser, with no server-side computation needed.
Game data sourced from CCRL and TCEC (Top Chess Engine Championship). TCEC games are licensed under CC BY-SA 3.0. Engine moves are factual records of completed engine matches.
